Carolyn King-Sammons
Carolyn has been an Elk Township Resident for more than 25 years.  She has been married to her husband Jonathan for more than 30 years and they have two children, Andrea and Samantha.  Carolyn is a small business owner – Dominion Title Services in Bridgeton, NJ and an 20-year member of the Bridgeton Area Chamber of Commerce chairing the Government and Community Relations Board, CO Bridgeton Rotary.  She is the past Vice President and Treasurer for the Woodland Country Day School Board.

Ms. Sammons was first elected to the Township Committee in 2011 and is currently Mayor.  Carolyn has acted as liaison to the Recreation Committee and the Trico Joint Insurance Fund (JIF).

Deputy Mayor

Donna M. Nicholson
Donna Nicholson has lived in Elk Township since 1992.  She and her late husband, Chuck Nicholson, have two children, Maria and Vernon III, who both attended Aura and Delsea HS.  Chuck was a life-long resident of Elk and involved in the Township through the School Board, Planning/Zoning Board, tee ball, soccer and basketball.  Donna has a Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Civil/Environmental Engineering from the University of Delaware, and is a Principal Environmental Engineer with Stantec Consulting Services.  She holds Professional Engineering licenses in NJ, PA and DE.

Mrs. Nicholson was past President of Elk Township Soccer Club, Secretary of Elk Township Basketball Club, and coach of Elk Township Tee-Ball, Boys and Girls Soccer, and Boys Basketball 1999-2010. She was Secretary of Elk Township Environmental Commission for more than 10 years and is now the Township Liaison to that commission and sits on the Planning/Zoning Board.  Ms. Nicholson was originally elected to the Township Committee in 2015, and is currently Deputy Mayor.

Township Committee

Christine (Chrisy) Cowan

Christine has been a resident of Elk Township at Cherubs Creek Farm for over
20 years and has raised her 19-year-old daughter Marissa as a single mom. She
has been married to her current husband Christopher for the past 9 years.
Christine has a BA in Communications from Elizabethtown College, received her
degree in Mortuary Science in Boston and her Diploma in Nursing from the
Helene Fuld School of Nursing. She holds Professional licenses in the State of NJ in
both Nursing & Funeral Directing.

For the past 14 years Christine has worked as a Nurse Educator and in Medical
Sales. Previous to working in nursing Christine worked in Haddonfield at Holl-
Murphy Funeral Home as a funeral Director.

Mrs. Cowan was elected to the Township Committee in 2021 and sworn in January 6th, 2022.  She will act as the liason to the School Board and Recreational Committee.

James Rambo
Mr. Rambo is owner/operator of Rambo Farms and is a life-long resident of Elk Township.  James was elected to the Township Committee November 2012 and is the Liaison to the Elk Township  Agriculture Committee, Police, Fire and Public Works Departments.

Nathaniel G Lucas III

Nate Lucas, a native of Elk Township, was born and raised in a local farming family going back five generations. He is the father of four children, with his wife of seven years. Nate received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from BJU in South Carolina. He and his family are regular supporters of the local Elk Township sports’ teams and contribute to several local benevolence funds. Nate was recently appointed as Mayor’s designee on the Elk Township planning and zoning board, and is filling the seat left by Tommy Hollywood on the Elk Township Committee. He serves on the Gloucester County Farm Board as representative of the greenhouse industry.

Nate is an operations manager at his family company. Founded by his parents in 1977, his family company provides jobs for over 300 people throughout the year. Along with his siblings, he has worked for the family company since youth – and took on official roles of company leadership in 2009. He manages multiple crews to complete large construction projects, focuses his efforts to increase company efficiency and sustainability, and purchases inventory and raw materials needed for production.

Mr. Lucas has been on the Planning/Zoning Board since the spring of 2022 and will act as the Sports Liaison for the Twp. Committee.
