Elk Township actively promotes protection and improvement of our surface waters and ground water resources. We do this by adopting and enforcing Ordinances and Best Management Practices. The Township Engineer and our Planning Board Engineer work with our Township Committee, Planning Board, and Public Works to ensure that all major projects include features and procedures that are designed to protect, and in many cases to improve, water quality, ground water recharge, attenuation of stormwater runoff, erosion, and the prevention of harmful debris and substances from entering our water resources.
In addition the Township takes measures to educate the public about the importance of stormwater management and pollution prevention
These measures are required by the New Jersey Administrative Code 7:8 and have been developed under the direction of the Department of Environmental Protection. All municipalities in New Jersey are required to implement a stormwater management and pollution prevention plan under the same regulations.
The links in this section are intended to provide you with information about our program and give you ideas about what you can do to help protect our most important natural resource. The links will have new resources from time to time.
