The Elk Township Police Department will now be utilizing body worn cameras. These body worn cameras, or BWCs will be used in conjunction with the existing in-car video cameras that are installed in all patrol vehicles. BWCs are intended to enhance officer safety, produce effective materials for training, and to produce an additional method of collecting evidence to prosecute those who violate the law. Our agency will be utilizing Watchguard V300 body cameras. These cameras will be worn on the front center area of the officers as depicted in the corresponding photo. Additionally, plain clothes officers may wear the camera facing forward on the beltline.  All front-line officers assigned to patrol duty will be wearing these devices.
